Russell Brand's bunny role
Thursday, 16 July 2009
Russell Brand will voice the Easter Bunny in a new film.
The 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' star will appear in 'I Hop', which follows a down-on-his luck unemployed man who is forced to step into save Easter when he runs over the rabbit, leaving him unable to walk.
Co-producer Chris Meledandri said: "Russell showed me that he's got a wonderful ability not only to be funny in his own body, but he can create humour vocally, which is the distinction we need for these movies.
"This gives us an opportunity to remythologise the holiday around an Easter Bunny character that is as dynamic and irreverent as Russell is."
'Alvin and the Chipmunks' filmmaker Tim Hill will direct the movie, which is to be a mixture of live action and animation.
John Cohen will also produce the project, which is scheduled for release March 2011.
