Robin Williams' 6m lawsuit
Tuesday, 21 October 2008
Robin Williams has launched a $6 million lawsuit against Frank and Beans Prods. and Gold Circle Films.
The 'Mrs. Doubtfire' actor is attempting to recover money he believes is owed to him by the film production companies, who had cast him in detective film 'A Couple Of Dicks'.
Williams had signed on to star in the comedy before the project was axed in March this year.
The lawsuit is based on a contractual deal known as 'pay-or-play', which ties the actor to the project for a certain period of time in order for the filmmakers to use his name to raise funds. Under the deal, if the film doesn't go ahead the star is still entitled to the full fee.
Producer Mark Goldbatt is apparently still working on the film and is set to give it a new title.
