Guns N' Roses leak arrest

Friday, 29 August 2008

The man who leaked Guns N' Roses tracks onto the internet has been arrested.

27-year-old Kevin Cogill was arrested by FBI agents in Los Angeles for copyright infringement after he put tracks from the band's long-awaited album 'Chinese Democracy' onto the internet for fans to download.

He was then taken to court where he admitted to leaking nine songs from the album on his website in June. Bail was set at $10,000 and he will appear in court again on September 17.

The leak included six tracks that had appeared before in unfinished form and three songs - 'Rhiad and the Bedouins', 'If the World' and an unnamed track - that were all apparently new compositions.

Prosecutors are claim the leaked songs may have caused "significant" financial losses for Guns N' Roses, despite Cogill removing the tracks from his website soon after posting them.

The FBI began an investigation into the leak in June.
