Beastie guest Bob Dylan
Wednesday, 1 July 2009
Bob Dylan is to appear on the next Beastie Boys album.
The group - who have just released 'Hot Sauce Committee Pt 1' - are currently working on the second part of the album and say they wanted the 'Like A Rolling Stone' star to appear, but had to make do with sampling an old radio show featuring the folk legend.
Ad-Rock real name Adam Horovitz - confirmed: "Bob Dylan is guesting on '...Pt 2'. He talks about us. More of a spoken word thing...
Mike D - also known as Mike Diamond - added: "He has a radio show on satellite and he was speaking about Beastie Boys, so we collaborated with that. He's one of the first b-boys, if not the first. What more to say? When you think songwriter, you think him. There's not many others."
Explaining the sample, Ad-Rock added: "He played one of our songs and was talking about us; he's a big fan."
Nas also appears on the current album, duetting on 'Too Many Rappers'. But the band revealed they never actually worked in the same room.
Third member MCA - Adam Yauch - explained to Drowned In Sound: To be completely honest we sent him the track, he sent us his vocals, then we put our vocals onto it. So we weren't in the studio at the same time, but we hung out with him afterwards."
