Tinchy Stryder's vital songs
Monday, 10 August 2009
Tinchy Stryder thinks his album is almost as important as breathing.
The 'Number 1' hitmaker insists his new LP, 'Catch 22', should be an essential part of people's record collections and he loved the chance to be able to experiment with the sound on it.
He said: "I'll always describe the album as the second thing to air that you breathe. That's how important it is in your life.
"Obviously I come from the grime scene so its got a few more darker grimier beats. But at the same time when I go into the studio I've been trying to develop and expand so I don't feel like I'm trapped in a box."
Tinchy - real name Kwasi Danquah has been making music since he was 13, but the 22year-old star is amazed at how successful this year has been for him.
He added to BBC Newsbeat: "It's like a dream which I'm not trying to wake up from. I feel like I've put a lot of hard work in and the hard work is paying off."
