T.J. Hooker: the movie
Tuesday, 7 July 2009
'T.J. Hooker' is being made into a movie.
'The Mask' helmer Chuck Russell has signed up to direct a big-screen adaptation of the cult 80s TV cop show, which starred William Shatner in the title role.
Producer Ryan Heppe said: "The series was the poster child for cop TV shows in the 1980s with great stunts, so we think there's a fun movie to be made from it."
No casting details have yet been announced, but William is rumoured to be playing his former character's father.
The plot of the movie, which is being written by S.S. Wilson and Brent Maddock, is to centre around the title character's relationship with his dad.
The original hit US TV series saw William - in his first role since appearing in 'Star Trek' -play a no-nonsense police sergeant, fighting crime with his younger fellow officers, including Heather Locklear and Adrian Zmed.
It aired for five seasons from 1982.
