Substitute star Hugh Jackman
Monday, 1 December 2008
Hugh Jackman claims his career is built on "coming off the substitutes bench".
The actor - whose role in 'Australia' was originally set to be played by Russell Crowe before the 'Gladiator' star pulled out - claims he was not first choice for the characters he has portrayed in the majority of his movies.

He said: "If I've done 15 films, maybe on four or five of them I might have been the first choice.
"In fact, Wolverine in 'X Men' was offered to every other actor on the planet. I only got in there because the guy pulled out at the last minute. Poor Dougray Scott had an injury. I've kind of made a career coming off the substitutes bench."
