Russell Brand's past visit

Russell Brand's past visit

Friday, 29 August 2008

Russell Brand says he is looking forward to revisiting his drug addict past.

The British comedian is set to reprise his 'Forgetting Sarah Marshall' role as out-of-control rock star Aldous Snow in new comedy 'Get Him To The Greek' and says he is keen to be able to act out his old excesses.

He is quoted as saying: "The opportunity to revisit it without the consequences is exciting.

"I might even find a way of justifying using actual drugs. It's like, 'Well, this is acting, come on'."

Russell - who hasn't drank or used drugs since successful treatment to beat his addictions in 2003 - will be joined in the new movie by Jonah Hill, who plays a newly-graduated insurance adjuster hired to escort Aldous from London to a concert in Los Angeles.

'Forgetting Sareah Marshall' director Nicholas Stoller has written and will be directing the spin-off.

The funnyman was famously fired from MTV in 2001 after arriving for work on September 12 dressed as Osama Bin Laden. Despite his problems with the network, Russell has been chosen to present this year's MTV Video Music Awards, which take place in Los Angeles next month.
