Johnny Depp wants Riddler
Wednesday, 24 June 2009
Johnny Depp wants to play the Riddler in the next 'Batman' movie.
The 'Public Enemies' star would love to take on the role of the game-obsessed villain in the superhero blockbuster because he is in awe of the character's original actor.
He said: "If the opportunity came, I'd definitely juggle it. I always like the Riddler. I always liked Frank Gorshin. Frank Gorshin was brilliant. I always thought he was a great actor."
Meanwhile, the 46-year-old actor's 'Public Enemies' co-star Christian Bale - who played the title character in 'Batman Begins' and 'The Dark Knight' - has praised Johnny's acting ability and said he would be perfect for the part.
He said: "I think Johnny's a wonderful actor, and I think he could achieve that greatly, but I'm not the man to ask."
However, Christian admitted the pair haven't discussed the possibility of them going head-to-head as archenemies.
He said: "As you see in 'Public Enemies' we had one scene together, so not a whole lot of time for discussing anything else."
Eddie Murphy recently revealed he would also love the chance to star in a 'Batman' movie, if director Christopher Nolan decided to produce a third instalment.
