Facebook: the movie
Friday, 29 August 2008
A movie about social networking website Facebook is to be made.
'The West Wing' creator Aaron Sorkin is reportedly set to make a film focussing on the site's creation at Harvard university in 2004 by Mark Zuckerberg and his friends Dustin Moskovitz and Chris Hughes. It will also look at how the site's massive fortune and success changed the life of its founders.

Posting on his own Facebook page, Aaron confirmed the news, saying: "I've just agreed to write a movie for Sony and producer Scott Rudin about how Facebook was invented.
"I figured a good first step in my preparation would be finding out what Facebook is, so I've started this page. (Actually it was started by my researcher, Ian Reichbach, because my grandmother has more Internet savvy than I do and she's been dead for 33 years.)"
Facebook was originally launched as a way of Harvard students to communicate with each other. It now has over 60 million members and is reported to be valued at $16 billion.
