Dracula: the sequel
Tuesday, 7 October 2008
Filming on a 'Dracula' sequel is to begin before the book hits shelves.
'Dracula: The Undead', written by original author Bram Stoker's great-grandnephew Dacre Stoke and historian Ian Holt, is due to go on sale in October 2009 but with film rights already sold, shooting on the movie is set to start next summer.
The story takes place 25 years after the original and features the heroes from the original book being stalked by a mystery character.
Jan De Bont is rumoured to be producing and possibly directing the movie, which will be written by Ian and Alexander Galant.
'Dracula: The Undead' is the first Dracula story to enjoy the full support of the Stoker family since the original 1931 movie starring Bela Lugosi.
Bela's appearance in a stage production of the story first sparked the novel's popularity - 15 years after the author's death.
