Amy Adams is a Fighter
Wednesday, 1 July 2009
Amy Adams has signed up to star in 'The Fighter'.
The 'Doubt' actress will appear alongside Christian Bale and Mark Wahlberg in a blockbuster based on the life of Boston boxer 'Irish' Mickey Ward.
The 34-year-old actress will play a tough barmaid called Charlene who falls in love with Mickey's half-brother and boxing coach Dicky Eklund, played by Mark.
At the height of his career, Dicky fought Sugar Ray Leonard, but saw his career decline as he got involved in drugs and crime.
He later redeemed himself by becoming Mickey's trainer.
Mark has been training for "several years" to play the role after the project suffered several setbacks.
Both Brad Pitt and Matt Damon were previously lined up for the role of Dicky but dropped out and 'The Wrestler' directer Darren Aronofsky was originally set to direct the film, before quitting to be replaced by David O. Russell.
'The Fighter' will start shooting next month.
