Experimental Oasis

Noel Gallagher says the new Oasis album "isn't Britpop".

The rockers - along with bands including Blur, Pulp and Ocean Colour Scene - were prominent figures of the so-called 'Britpop' movement in the late 1990s but the guitarist says the forthcoming 'Dig Out Your Soul' is a lot more experimental than their previous releases.

Noel told BBC 6Music: "It's not Britpop, let's put it that way. It's not our usual thing.

"It's just really exciting, three of the tracks have got two drummers on, me and Zak Starkey playing drums. Some of it sounds a bit glam."

The 'Don't Look Back in Anger' star admitted he isn't expecting much of the record to be heard commercially.

He added: "There's no pop singles on it. I'd be amazed if anything else gets on the radio past the first single."

Meanwhile, the Chemical Brothers have revealed they turned down the chance to remix 'Wonderwall'.

The dance duo have recently reworked 'Falling Down', which will appear as the B-side to Oasis' forthcoming single 'The Shock of the Lightning' but say they were offered the chance to remix the rockers earlier in their career - but worried they weren't experienced enough.

Tom Rowlands said: "They did ask us to remix Wonderwall when that first came out but basically we didn't know how to do it."

Speaking about their remix of 'Falling Down', Tom added: "When Noel's name comes through on your phone, the command has been issued. It was exciting to do it and I'm glad they like it.

"We chucked loads of bits out and did it how we would want it to sound."
