Johnny Marr accepted by Cribs
Monday, 13 July 2009
The Cribs view Johnny Marr as a "normal" member of the band.
The rockers were joined by the veteran ex-Smiths guitarist last year and say despite him being regarded as one of the best musicians and songwriters of his generation, they don't treat him any differently.
Frontman Ryan Jarman said: "It was really exciting when we first got together and started playing. It's still exciting as we have loads more songs to write, but he feels like such a part of the band, we just treat him like we treat each other."
Despite Johnny being much older than the rest of the group, Ryan insists he isn't a sensible influence and happily leads them astray.
Asked whether he thought the guitarist was the 'dad' of the band, Ryan added to XFM radio: "Not at all, we're all on exactly the same level, If anything he kind of provokes us into stuff. Not into mischief, but he doesn't want us to get away from what we've always been, which is quite a chaotic band."
