Angelina Jolie's new project
Thursday, 23 April 2009
Angelina Jolie is set to star in a movie adaptation of the 'Scarpetta' novels.
The 'Changeling' actress will team up with Fox 2000 to play Dr Kay Scarpetta in Patricia Cornwell's series about an Italian coroner.
Fox 2000 recently acquired the screen rights to all 16 books and plan to turn the heroine into a long-running movie franchise.
This is not the first time the stories have been lined up for a film.
In 1992, Demi Moore was due to play the leading role in 'Cruel and Unusual' - the fourth novel in the series - after Columbia Pictures bought the movie rights but the project fell through.
The author - who is reportedly very protective of her handiwork - is said to be working closely on the production of the first movie and has already met with Angelina and the producer Geyer Kosinski to discuss the impending project.
