Matt Di Angelo: Leaving Enders is a shock

EasterEnders actor Matt Di Angelo said that it was a "shock" to hear that his character, Deano Wicks, was being cut from the soap.

His departure is due to the exit of actors Phil Daniels and Diane Parish, who play his dad Kevin and stepmum Denise.

The 20-year-old told Now magazine: "It was a shock. If I could choose my exit storyline, I'd like us all to die in a car crash. That would be something dramatic and memorable."

He also admitted that it will be a welcome break to give up "12-hour days" on the set, although he said he had "a really good time" at Albert Square.

"I'm lined up for an exciting new project that's been in the pipeline for a while. It'll be announced soon. You'll see a different side to me," he added.

In other Enders news, Michelle Ryan, who used to play Zoe Slater, recently confessed that she asked to be written out of the show for months so she could recover from depression.
