Jade Goody's desperate attempts to revive her career led to her begging Britain's top-selling Asian women's magazine to put her on the cover - but, unsurprisingly, her pleas were ignored.
Her racist bullying of Bollywood star Shilpa on Celebrity Big Brother had made her into a hate figure, but Jade had hoped to build bridges with the Asian community by appearing in Asiana magazine dressed in a sari.
A source close to Jade told the Daily Star last night: "In her eyes, having her in a sari plastered across this respected magazine was to be a quick fix for all the hurt she caused."
But editor-in-chief of Asiana, Shihab Salim, said: "The option of a photoshoot with her in a sari was flatly rejected.
"It would have been in poor taste. I think our readers would have accused us of falling for a PR trick. We support Shilpa - and so do our readers."
The magazine did, however, run a message from Jade apologising for her behaviour to Asiana's readers, although she managed to underline her lack of knowledge about Asian culture by saying: "I now know to tell my kids Pakistani people are not from India."
