Simon Pegg's UK vow
Monday, 31 March 2008
Simon Pegg has no plans to move to Hollywood.
The British comic actor - who has become a star on both sides of the Atlantic due to the success of 'Shaun of the Dead' and most recently the David Schwimmer-directed Run Fatboy Run - insists he hasn't even considered quitting the UK.
He said: "I don't intend to move to America. As much as I love the country, these days you can come and go, I don't want to be away from my family. I also want to make films in the UK because we have a great industry.
"It was no surprise to me that on the set of 'Star Trek' the first assistant director was Scottish and all the camera crew were English."
Simon, who is playing a young Scotty in the new sci-fi movie, has also revealed his next ambition is to make a film with legendary director Steven Spielberg.
He added: "To work with him would be a dream come true. I was lucky enough to meet him the other day - he's incredible. He's made joyously fantastic films for children and incredibly serious Hollywood films. I'd love to have that variety in my career."
