R&B star Rihanna has hit out at fake people who want to befriend her because she's famous - warning them she will uncover their true motives.

The Bajan beauty has had to fend off hoards of wannabe pals since the launch of her career in 2005, and is sick of fame-hungry lingerers trying to get close to her.

But the star has a secret weapon to discover if someone is a true pal - her "bull detector".

She says, "I have a good bull detector, so I'm good at figuring out who is real and which people want to be my friend because of what I am versus who I am."

Despite this the Umbrella star has invited her fans to get in touch during a special web chat on her official website on May 29th at 6.30pm.

The star also doesn't believe in girls longing for a man to make their lives perfect - insisting women should control their own destinies: "You shouldn't depend on a guy to make your life better or good at all."

The 20-year-old wishes the media would stop trying to control her love life too. She thinks that her perfect guy would just be normal and definitely not a celebrity.

She told BANG showbiz: "If I was dating someone who wasn't in this industry they would be in the same place, all the time, so I could go back to that place and know where they were.

"If they did what I do we'd both be travelling at the same time and we would never see each other."

Rihanna has been linked to Gangsta Boo star Chris Brown in the past but has always denied any relationship: "We are best friends, honestly, like brother and sister. I won't say that we're just friends - me and Chris are really best, best friends."

She admits that she finds trusting Chris easy: "We both started our careers around the same time. He is one of the only people in the industry that I trust and hang out with all the time.
