Patrick Swayze Doctor rubbishes rumours
Thursday, 6 March 2008
The doctor of Hollywood heartthrob Patrick Swayze has confirmed the actor has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer but insists that he is not fighting for his life as much as yesterday's internet reports suggested.
US tabloid magazine the National Enquirer claimed on Wednesday that the Ghost star has been told he has just five weeks to live, but his physician Dr. George Fisher is a lot more optimistic about the 55 year-old's recovery.
In a statement issued to WENN on Wednesday, Dr. Fisher said: "Patrick has a very limited amount of disease and he appears to be responding well to treatment thus far.
"All of the reports stating the time frame of his prognosis and his physical side effects are absolutely untrue.
"We are considerably more optimistic."
The actor's publicist Annett Wolf added, "Patrick Swayze has been diagnosed with pancreatic cancer and is currently undergoing treatment.
"The outpouring of support and concern he has already received from the public is deeply appreciated by Patrick and his family."
