MOBO Awards - Mel B gets her hands dirty

You would think that Mel B would demand a bodyguard after her airport scare last week but Scary Spice insists she doesn't need one.

Mel is looking forward to the MOBOs tonight and happily posed for photos with her hand print cast yesterday. She did the cast in aid of a bronze plaque that will toast the awards with a 'Square of Fame.'

Mel B will be hosting the MOBO Awards alongside Reverend Run, the
iconic founder of hip-hop act Run DMC, from London's Wembley Arena.

The event, which returns to the BBC for the fifth year running, is one of the music industry's most glittering annual awards.

In a year that has seen British black music rise to the top of the charts, Leona Lewis, Estelle, Dizzee Rascal and Wiley are the most nominated artists at the 13th annual Mobo Awards. Other contenders include Adele, Duffy, Chris Brown and Jay-Z.

Among tonight's exclusive performances are John Legend, Jay Sean, Estelle, Flo Rida and Sugababes, who collaborate with Taio Cruz. Last year saw an unexpected performance from Amy Winehouse, and this year will again bring a few surprises.

Among the guests appearing are Alesha Dixon, some of the British Olympic medallists and last year's host, Jamelia. There are also backstage interviews hosted by 1Xtra BBC's Ace & Vis.

This year's Mobo Awards promise to be one of the most exciting music nights of the year, featuring new stars of the future alongside some of the biggest names in black music.
