Guy Ritchie loving bachelorhood

Guy Ritchie was mobbed by admiring women at the Empire Awards on Sunday (29.03.09).

The 'Snatch' director admitted he has been enjoying single life since his divorce from Madonna at the after-party for the British movie magazine's annual ceremony.

He said: "I'm single again - and I wouldn't have it any other way. I'm loving it at the moment. This is what I've been missing."

The 40-year-old star was approached by a number of eligible young women during the evening, who were seen flirting and posing for photographs with the handsome filmmaker - who picked up the award for Best British Film for 'RocknRolla'.

A source said: "One girl got her friend to take a picture of her kissing him, and he was totally game.

"Throughout the evening a string of girls came up to him flirting and giggling, he was enjoying the attention."

Meanwhile, the big success at the ceremony was 'The Dark Knight', which picked up three accolades.

The Batman blockbuster was named Best Film, while Christian Bale - who played the comic book superhero - and Christopher Nolan won Best Actor and Best Director respectively.

Other winners included Gemma Arterton who scooped Best Newcomer, Helena Bonham Carter who was named Best Actress for her performance in musical 'Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street' and Viggo Mortensen who was presented with the Empire Icon prize.

Helena dedicated her honour to her long-term partner and 'Sweeney Todd...' director Tim Burton.

She said: "I always wanted to be in a musical, always wanted to sing, always wanted to be in something written by Stephen Sondheim and I got all of those, thanks to Tim."

The ceremony was held at London's Grosvenor House hotel and was hosted by Irish comedian Dara O'Brian.
