Kylie gets her OBE from Prince Charles

Pop star Kylie Minogue received her OBE from Prince Charles at Buckingham Palace today.

The Aussie songstress looked elegant in a contemporary silk dress as she received her award for services to music at a palace investiture.

She curtseyed as she received her decoration from Prince Charles.

After the ceremony, the 39 year-old said: "I've met him before and I think that made me slightly less nervous.

"He just asked what I'm up to at the moment and was happy to see me better."

Asked if Charles told her he liked her music, she joked: "I don't recall him saying that... I wonder what's on his iPod."

Looking at her OBE medal, she added: "This symbolises my communication with my audience and people around the world and that's incredible."

The former Neighbours actress has been in the UK public eye for the last 20 years since graduating from screen to speaker.

In 2005 she shocked the entertainment world by announcing she had breast cancer half-way through her Showgirl tour.

However, she has since fully recovered and released a new album.

She added: "I'm so happy to be back on tour. This is my second tour since being ill. My energy levels are now so much better."

"I think I was quite fragile on the last one but it was something I had to do, but now I'm full of joy and very thankful."
