Katie Holmes didn't need to go to the Oscars this year.
She is currently in New York preparing for her next role in 'The Extra Man.'

Unlike Robert Pattinson who is just starting out in the business Katie has been to many Oscars ceremonies over the years.
Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Cruise, George Clooney, Scarlett Johansson, Julia Roberts and Jennifer Lopez all missed the Oscars as well.
It's a shame Leonardo DiCaprio wasn't there to cheer on Kate Winslet when she picked up the Best Actress award.
We're just glad Robert Pattinson, Zac Efron, Vanessa Hudgens and Miley Cyrus were invited.
They are the reason many of us tuned in.
