Heath Ledger had haunting portrait painted weeks before his death

Artist Vincent Fantauzzo painted a haunting portait of Heath Ledger just weeks before his death.
In the portrait Heath is surrounded by two 'mind spirits' whispering into his ears. It is a dark piece which shows Heath Ledger looking exhausted and scared.
Vincent Fantauzzo says the whispering spirits represent Heath Ledger's inner thoughts.
Vincent had portrait sessions in Heath's family home in Perth in December. Vincent says Heath seemed happy and relaxed at home.
Heath's death came as a shock to the artist who had been painting Heath for ten hours a day.
The portrait has been entered into the Archibald competition at The Art Gallery of NSW.
