Amy Adams' Hollywood 'growing pains'

Amy Adams' Hollywood 'growing pains'

Monday, 17 August 2009

Amy Adams had "growing pains" when she turned 30.

The 34-year-old actress feared she would never make it in the film industry and her neuroses almost got the better of her when she hit the landmark age.

She said: "The summer I turned 30, I remember it vividly. I had such growing pains that summer. I had just filmed 'Junebug' and though the experience of making it was transformative, it was a small, independent movie. I didn't know if anyone would even see it.

"I'd auditioned thousands of times by that point and been in 'Catch me If You Can', and yet nothing was really working out in terms of getting work."

Amy thought she would be catapulted to success after appearing alongside Leonard DiCaprio in 2002's 'Catch Me If You Can', and was devastated when subsequent roles failed to materialise.

She explained to Britain's Vogue magazine: "I was full of indecision. I didn't have a great sense of self-worth, like most people in their 20s. But by the summer I turned 30, I was getting into that place in my life where I was trying to decide what I wanted. And if this wasn't going to work and wasn't providing me with happiness, then what was I doing?"
