David Blaine´s water stunt

David Blaine risks it all on Oprah Winfrey

Thursday, 24 April 2008

David Blaine is going to attempt to break the world record for holding his breath underwater.

David has been buried alive, frozen in a block of ice and stood on a 100ft pole in previous stunts.

He will try not to breathe for longer than the current record of 16 minutes and 14 seconds when he appears on Oprah Winfrey's talk show next Wednesday (30.04.08).

A statement from the programme read: "Facing the threats of heart failure, brain damage and even death, Blaine will endeavour to hold his breath for more than 16 minutes and 14 seconds - the record currently held by Tom Sietas - while submerged in a sphere-shaped aquarium filled with more than 2,500 gallons of water."

This is the first of two stunts Blaine is reportedly planning to perform this year.

The other will involve him trying to break the world record for sleep deprivation.

Briton Tony Wright managed to stay awake for 11.5
