Britney Spears escapes again

Britney Spears has arrived in New Orleans to support her sister as she prepares to give birth this afternoon.

The Toxic star must be glad to be out of LA after yesterday when she found out a tell-all book was to be written about her private life.

Author Ian Halperin pretended to be a photographer for 18 months and Britney even invited him into her home. In his book he will describe in detail her two apparent suicide attempts and has got a family source to provide intimate information.

Halperin claims the 26-year-old's problems were fuelled by drugs and the company she keeps.

The award-winning journalist told Life & Style magazine: "I saw a lot. I partied with her and was able to really monitor what type of stuff she was using. It's very concerning.

"But the book is mainly about her handlers, how sleazy and destructive they are toward her. The people around her are like vultures."

Halperin insists that he witnessed enough to make him realise that Spears is basically a good person: "She's actually a very caring mom."

But he is concerned that she's in danger of suffering a "catastrophic relapse" of her: "Britney herself warned me that with her, it's always two steps forward, one step back."

Britney appears to be trying to keep herself busy and as well as helping Jamie-Lynn cope she is trying to find a wife for her older brother Bryan Spears.

Bryan confesses: "She thinks I should be married by now. She tries to set me up with people, but if I started to seriously date someone, I don't think she'd like them at first because she's very protective."
