Brad Pitt and Natalie Portman are to star in a new romantic comedy together.

The pair will also produce the film, which is based on a new book by Leanne Shapton entitled 'Important Artifacts And Personal Property From the Collection of Lenore Doolan and Harold Morris, Including Books, Street Fashion and Jewelry'.

It is expected that the title will change when work begins on the movie, which features Brad as a 40-something photographer and Natalie as his food columnist girlfriend.

The story of their failed four-year romance is told through an auction catalogue, listing around 300 items which each tell a story about the relationship.

Natalie looks like having a busy year ahead.

It was reported earlier this week that the 'Closer' actress is set to play the female lead in 'Thor', Kenneth Branagh's the upcoming Marvel blockbuster about the Norse warrior god.

However, although being lined up for the lead role, there is still some doubt over who she will be as there are two possible storylines being mooted.

If Marvel decides to set the film in Asgard - the mythological home of the gods - Natalie is expected to play Thor's wife and fellow god Sif.

The movie may also be based on Thor's real-world alter-ego, Donald Blake, the 'Closer' actress is expected to star as his girlfriend Jane Foster.
