Boyzone's no to new songs

Boyzone's no to new songs

Thursday, 5 June 2008

Boyzone will not be releasing a new album.

The popular 90s boy band are currently on a comeback tour and are releasing a greatest hits LP, but have scrapped plans for a record of new material.

A source told Britain's The Sun newspaper: "The thinking was to come up with something new as well as the greatest hits. But that doesn't look like it's going to happen now.

"The boys couldn't decide on what material to use and are running out of time to do something that takes advantage of the tour.

"There have been a few squabbles about it."

The band - who had hits such as 'No Matter What' and 'Baby Can I Hold You' - began their 2008 tour last month and will continue performing until August. The band sold 200,000 tickets for the tour within three hours.

Lead singer Ronan Keating along with bandmates Shane Lynch, Stephen Gately, Keith Duffy and Mikey Graham stripped down to their underwear during the launch of their tour last month to better pop rivals Take That.

Keating said: "Take That raised the bar and we had to follow. We needed to out-sex them!"
