Brad Pitt wept as Angelina gave birth

Seeing your child for the first time is emotional for any father and rumour has it that Brad Pitt cried when he saw his new son and daughter for the first time.

He had been looking forward to the moment for months as he enjoyed Shiloh's "peaceful birth" two years ago.

He made sure that he was with Angelina throughtout the birth and never left her side.

According to reports, their son Knox Leon arrived first, quickly followed by their new daughter Vivienne Marcheline a minute later.

It is alleged that Angelina's obstetrician, Dr Michael Sussmann, told reporters that the operation, which had been scheduled for Tuesday had to be moved forward "for medical reasons". No further information was given.

Sussmann told People.com: "The babies are doing well. The operation went just perfectly. Angelina is in very good spirits.

"Brad Pitt was at her side. He was there and all was well."

"He was by my assitant!"

He added: "The mother and father are very, very happy."

Vivienne and Knox are officially the youngest celebrities on the planet.

The Mayor of Nice, Christian Estrosi proudly showed off their birth certificates on the steps of the hospital on Sunday.

Estrosi described the birth as "a pride to Nice and all its citizens", reports People.com.

He added: "On behalf of the inhabitants of Nice, I congratulate the happy parents, the most famous couple of the world who have chosen our city for this happy event.

"I also congratulate the four brothers and sister of the newborns who are (history won't forget it) real 'Nicois' ('citizens of Nice')."
